"The Froadster"
This modified 1967 Volkswagen Squareback sports a 1641cc engine with dual 32mm solex carbs. It has a 4" body lift and a lifted suspension using a transmission from an early VW Bus to give a raised rear end and lowered gearing for sand and hill climbing. The front suspension remains relatively stock with body lifted above the stock beam w/ spacers to accommodate the larger tires. Current plans include a 2110cc motor which is at Jansen Enterprises machine shop in Redwood City right now being modified to accept the longer stroke crankshaft and larger pistons. It will run an Engle 110 camshaft, larger oil sump, external oil cooler and dual 40mm Weber carbs. Can't wait to get that puppy bolted in!
The ultimate shuttle bus. 1971 Volkswagen Transporter.1776cc motor w/ dual 40mm Kadron carbs pulls 7 people plus gear up the steepest hills all day long and the boomin' system drowns out the noise of rambunctious children quite nicely! Last year Mark McCord of McCord Electric wired up an auxillary ac power system for future addition of a flat screen tv and X-Box. Much thanks to "Bondo Bob" for repairing the dent that some jerk put in it last summer while parked overnight at the shop. Can't wait to try out my new add on tent at Sea Otter this year. It's ENORMOUS! More pics to come.
